¶ Get started with PuTTY
This is a guide for remotely connecting to your device using PuTTY.

¶ Preparation
- Ensure you have an EdgePi device that's connected to power and has a network connection.
To connect your device, follow the guides here.
The computer you're using and your EdgePi must be connected to the same network.
- Install PuTTY on the computer you wish to use for connection. PuTTY Install.
¶ Connecting to your device via SSH
- In the
Hostname (or IP Address)field, enterpi@edgepi-xxxxxx.local.
xxxxxxshould be replaced by your device's serial number, which can be found on the back of the device.
- You may also enter your
pi@followed by your device's IP address.
- Click
Open.
- PuTTY's virtual terminal should open. If you receive a security prompt, click
Accept.
- Enter your device's password as prompted. (Default password is
pi).
- You are now connected to your device.
You can now continue with any project you like.
